The Stats Sheet: Week 18

ARGONAUTS.CA STAFF

Throughout the year, argonauts.ca will take a look at some of the statistical leaders following each game and compare how they match up against both their teammates and the rest of the Canadian Football League.

ALL-PURPOSE YARDS – WR Chad Owens

Chad Owens has already been a thorn in the side of the team that traded him to Toronto this season and he once again took it to his former mates to the tune of 308 total yards and a touchdown and the damage could have been worse had it not been for a penalty that erased a 70-yard punt return touchdown in the third quarter. Owens’ season totals now sit at 3,288 all-purpose yards, leaving him in striking distance of 8 single-season team and league records heading into the final week of the regular season.

YARDS FROM SCRIMMAGE – RB Cory Boyd

Argos running back Cory Boyd is in a dead heat race with Winnipeg tailback Fred Reid for the league lead in rushing but he once again showed his versatility this week, leading the Argos aerial attack as well.  The bruising back only carried the ball 8 times but averaged 8.5 yards per carry, finishing with 68 rushing yards including a 33-yard touchdown scamper.  He also led the team in receiving with 4 receptions for 79 yards including another 33-yard gain to set up a Mike Bradwell touchdown catch.

DEFENSIVE TACKLES – LB Jason Pottinger

In his first year at starting middle linebacker, Jason Pottinger has really rounded into form, especially in the second half of the 2010 season.  The second-year Argo had his highest single-game tackle total of the season, racking up 10 against a high-powered Montreal offence.
