ARGONAUTS.CA STAFF – The Toronto Argonauts Football Club is pleased to announce that free agent national LB Herve Tonye-Tonye has re-signed with the Club through 2016. Tonye-Tonye was granted free agency at 12 noon ET today.
Commented Argonauts General Manager, Jim Barker, “We drafted Herve in 2012 as a futures pick from Northern Colorado. He returned to school for his final year of eligibility and we have watched him grow as a football player over the past two seasons. We are happy that he will remain in Toronto as he continues his progression.”
Herve Tonye-Tonye was drafted by the Argonauts with the 24th overall pick in the 2012 CFL Draft out of the University of Northern Colorado. He played out his final year of college and joined the Argos in 2013. He has since dressed in 22 regular season games and one playoff game for the Double Blue. His career numbers include 8 defensive tackles and five special teams tackles.
The Toronto Argonauts also announced today that national OL Scott Mitchell has been released.
