Toronto – The Toronto Argonauts Football Club is pleased to announce that free agent international RB Curtis Steele has signed with the Club through 2015. Steele was granted free agency at 12 noon ET on Tuesday.

He was voted a special teams captain by his teammates, which is rare for an international player in our league, and he has been a consistent contributor to our backfield. We are happy to keep him in Toronto.”

Steele, a former University of Memphis Tiger, played in 16 regular season games and finished 2014 second on the Argonauts in rushing yards with 541 on 87 carries (6.2 yards/carry), total touchdowns with five (4 rushing and 1 receiving) and combined yards (1,071). He also added 35 receptions for 309 yards, nine kickoff returns for 219 yards and one punt return for two yards. In two CFL seasons, he has dressed in 27 regular season games and one playoff game, and amassed 126 carries for 728 yards and seven touchdowns, 48 receptions for 375 yards and one touchdown, 11 kickoff returns for 248 yards, one punt return, and 10 special teams tackles. He originally joined the Argonauts as a free agent before the 2013 season.
