TORONTO – The Toronto Argonauts Football Club announced today that the team has signed five international players including linebacker Brandon Isaac, running backs Akeem Daniels and Lyle McCombs, receiver Jarvis West, as well as defensive lineman Martez Wilson.
Isaac, a 6-3, 208-pound native of Blackville, South Carolina, returns to the Double Blue after spending 11 games with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in 2013 and training camp with the Saskatchewan Roughriders last season. He originally joined the Argonauts in 2012, when the team was crowned 100th Grey Cup Champions. He joined the CFL in 2010 with the Calgary Stampeders.
In 60 career games over five CFL seasons, the former South Carolina Gamecock has recorded 127 defensive tackles, nine special teams tackles, 12 sacks and two interceptions and six fumble recoveries.
Daniels, a 5-7, 189-pound native of Kissimme, Florida, finished his NCAA career with 1,227 rushing yards and 16 rushing touchdowns on 205 carries while hauling in 48 receptions for 613 yards and five receiving touchdowns over four seasons at Northern Illinois.
McCombs, a 5-10, 171-pound native of Staten Island, New York, spent the 2014 season at Rhode Island after transferring from the University of Connecticut. He finished his NCAA career with 815 carries for 3,344 rushing yards and 18 touchdowns while adding 56 receptions for 500 receiving yards and one touchdown between both schools. He left UConn ranked second in school history in carries (677) and fourth in rushing yards (2,681).
West, a 5-10, 171-pound native of St. Petersberg, Florida, played four seasons at Iowa State. He concluded his career with the Cyclones ranked 11th all-time in school history in receptions (117) while recording 885 receiving yards and five touchdowns.
Wilson, a 6-4, 250-pound native of Chicago, Illinois, arrives in Toronto after stints with the NFL’s New Orleans Saints, Oakland Raiders and Dallas Cowboys. The 2010 first-team All-Big Ten selection registered 223 tackles, 24 tackles for a loss, 10 sacks, one interception, four forced fumbles and eight pass breakups over four seasons with the University of Illinios Fighting Illini.
