Toronto – Canadian WR Mike Bradwell announced his retirement from the Canadian Football League today. The Toronto-native ends his six-year career, all with the Argonauts, and was a member of the team’s 100th Grey Cup championship squad in 2012.

Commented Mike Bradwell, a graduate of Leaside High School, “For the past six years I have been able to live out my dream for the Toronto Argonauts. I want to thank all of the amazing Argos fans and everyone in the organization, especially Scott Milanovich and Jim Barker, for giving me the opportunity to play CFL football. I am grateful to all of my teammates for making this game and this league truly special, and most importantly I want to recognize my family and friends for their tremendous support throughout my career. I look forward to starting the next chapter but I will always cherish my time in Double Blue!”

Bradwell was originally selected by the Toronto Argonauts in the second round (13th overall) of the 2008 CFL Draft. He elected to return to McMaster to play out his final year of CIS eligibility in 2008, and returned to the Double Blue in 2009 to haul in 25 passes for 350 yards as a rookie and lead all of the Argonauts’ Canadian receivers.

Commented Argonauts Head Coach Scott Milanovich, “On the field, Mike was a selfless player who helped us win football games with his versatility, intelligence and toughness. He understood how to play every receiver position, was excellent on special teams, and he was a very good teammate. We wish him the very best in the future and would like to thank him for his contributions to our organization.”

In 92 career games with the Double Blue, he registered 116 catches for 1,240 yards and six touchdowns. Bradwell played a significant role the Argonauts’ 100th Grey Cup victory in 2012.

During his time as an Argonaut, Mike also served as an ambassador of a number of Argos community initiatives, including its award-winning Huddle Up Bullying Prevention Program, presented by Tim Hortons, and was a part-time model. He holds a civil engineering degree from McMaster University.
