Argos Add Defensive Back and Receiver

TORONTO – The Toronto Argonauts announced today that the club has signed international defensive back Akwasi Owusu-Ansah and international receiver Kenny Shaw  

Owusu-Ansah, a 6-0, 201-pound, native of Gainesville, Florida, joins the Boatmen after spending time with the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys, Jacksonville Jaguars, Oakland Raiders and Detroit Lions. The 2010 Dallas Cowboys’ draft selection played four seasons at Indiana University of Pennsylvania where he registered 35 tackles, two tackles for a loss, 10 interceptions and 14 pass breakups with the Crimson Hawks.

Shaw, a 6-0, 170-pound, native of Orlando, Florida,  finished his NCAA career ranked top 20 in Florida State history in receptions (124) and receiving  yards (1,919).  As a senior in 2013, Shaw was one of Jaimeis Winston’s most sure-handed targets, ranking second on the team in receptions (54) and third in receiving yards (933). The 2014 BCS National Champion spent time with the Cleveland Browns, Jacksonville Jaguars and Oakland Raiders last season.

The Argonauts also announced today that international running backs Steve Slaton and Bernard Scott have retired, and international linebacker Nicholas Williams has been released by the team.
