Rookie Camp Diary: Day Three

Argonauts.ca Staff

Argonauts rookies and quarterbacks took the field at York Stadium on Friday afternoon for their final session of rookie camp.

Scott Milanovich gathered his troops early as former Argonauts linebacker and 2012 Grey Cup champion Robert McCune addressed the newcomers. McCune’s speech touched on a variety of topics including the brotherhood of the 2012 Grey Cup team, the importance of discipine, confidence and focus through training camp and the season.

As soon as McCune concluded, Milanovich quickly regrouped and got his players back to work on the warm Friday afternoon that was. The team eased into practice breaking into their respective individual groups which was then followed by one-on-one drills and a variety of team periods.

The Argonauts offence dominated the team’s red zone period as they found the endzone on a number of occasions. One standout in the offence was 2015 CFL Draft and Toronto native Kevin Bradfield, who was making it easy for his quarterbacks to hit him in space.

Defensive coordinator Casey Creehan continued to establish his presence amongst his defensive personnel who turned it up a notch during the team’s inside run period.

Rookies will now have a chance to put their feet up and get their legs back before taking the field with the team’s veterans on Sunday when training camp begins.

Chad Owens, Ricky Foley and the rest of the Argo vets will arrive on York campus tomorrow for training camp check-in, medicals, meetings and photo day. Both rookies and veterans will hit the field bright and early on Sunday morning.
