Training Camp Diary: Day 12

TORONTO – The Argonauts were back to the practice field on Thursday for the first time since opening the 2015 CFL pre-season at Varsity Stadium Tuesday.

Players were given an off-day on Wednesday, but Thursday it was back to the grind for players and coaches at York University Stadium. After starting the session with a special teams walkthrough on the turf field, players moved to the waterlogged grass practice field to continue practice with positional drills and team walkthroughs.

Fresh off his CFL game debut on Tuesday, Argos RB Henry Josey received a significant number of the reps at tailback with the first team offence, and showed the quickness and evasiveness that coaches love. Also continuing his strong run of play was WR Tori Gurley, who made several big catches over defenders after his seven-catch, 188-yard performance at Varsity Stadium.

Veteran RB Andre Durie also impressed during team session, turning an inside handoff into a 50-yard, untouched scamper to the end zone.

As training camp moves into its latter stages, much more time is being spent in team periods and positional matchups, as coaches are looking to evaluate how well players respond to film study and the intricacies of the playbook.
