After a narrow win in Winnipeg last Friday, the Argos return to Rogers Centre to open their
home schedule versus rival Hamilton Tiger-Cats Thursday night.
Quarterback Kerry Joseph will make his first regular
season start at home for the Argos, but it is
expected that coach Rich Stubler will revert to the dual-pivot strategy that he employed last week
in Winnipeg.
Interchanging Joseph with veteran QB Michael Bishop seemed to be the
recipe for success for the Boatmen in their 23-16 victory over the
Bombers. Last week’s victory combined with a win on Thursday versus Hamilton will give the Argos their first 2-0 start to the season
since 1997.
In an attempt to do so, the Argos defence will face QB Casey Printers in
regular season game action for the first time since October 11, 2004.
Despite falling to the hands of the Montreal Alouettes last week, Printers has
a few more weapons at his disposal this season, namely the wide-bodied Scott
Mitchell and former Argo WR Tony Miles.
Nobody doubts the abilities of Printers, however, history is
on the Argos
side as they are 22-5-2 (including pre-season) versus the ‘Cats since 2002 and
have not lost a season series to the Tabbies in six years.
The Argos will make two
lineup changes this week with WR David Boston being placed on the suspended list as he undergoes foot surgery and veteran DB Chris
Hardy makes a rare visit to the IR with an adducter injury. As a
result, newly-acquired WR Johnnie Morant and OT Ross Weaver will
make their first appearances on the Argos
46-man roster.
Kickoff is at 7:00 p.m. at Rogers Centre and the Nissan
Tailgate Party begins at 5:00 p.m. in the Bremner Street Parking lot outside Gate 9 at Rogers Centre. For tickets,
