Kerry Joseph; SSK – Darian Durant
The last time Kerry Joseph stepped on the Mosaic Stadium field in Saskatchewan, he was in the process of leading
the Roughriders to their first Grey Cup berth since 1997 in their first home
playoff date in over 30 years. One week
later, he was not only the Canadian Football League’s Most Outstanding Player,
but a Grey Cup Champion for the first time in his career.
Fast
forward to Week 5 of the 2008 CFL season and Joseph is back in the house of
Green and White but this time, donning Double Blue after coming off his most
impressive performance where truly showed Argos fans what made him the league’s
top player in 2007. That performance
earned Joseph Offensive Player of the Week after becoming the first Argos QB to
pass for more than 300 yards and rush for more than 100 yards in a game since Doug
Flutie did so in 1996.
After
leading the Boatmen to a dramatic come-from-behind victory over Edmonton last week, Joseph leads his club
into Regina to face the only unbeaten club in the CFL.
The Riders will likely counter with Darian Durant at the pivot
position. Marcus Crandell is now healthy
after suffering a Week 2 injury, however, the rookie Durant has quickly become
one of the most efficient QB’s in the game after only two starts.
The Argos will make three lineup changes with RB Bryan Crawford and LB Andre Maddox being placed on the injured list while OL Mike
Galassi returns to the practice roster. Replacing them will be FB Steve Schmidt, CB Delroy Clarke and OT Ross Weaver respectively.
Kickoff is
at 7:00 p.m. ET and can been seen on TSN and heard on FAN590, FAN590.com
and SIRIUS.
