Despite two TD’s by James Robinson, the Argos once again could not seem to put points on the board in the second half, falling 37-16 to B.C.
Casey Printers threw for two touchdowns and Jerome Messam ran in two more as the BC Lions beat the Toronto Argonauts 37-16 for their first home win of the season.
The win improved the Lions to 3-7 on the season and moved them ahead of Edmonton into third place in the West. The loss was Toronto’s third straight and dropped them to 5-5.
Printers was 25-of-39 for 302 yards with the two TDs and no interceptions in the game.
Veteran Lions receiver had a team high seven catches for 133 yards in the game and passed Ray Elgaard for fifth place on the CFL’s all-time receiving yards list.
Steven Black and Yonus Davis were on the receiving end of Printers’ touchdown passes.
Paul McCallum also added three field goals on the day for the Lions.
After a promising first quarter the Argonauts had a tough time getting things going and had four turnovers on the day. The Argos trailed the Lions 21-15 at the half but only scored a single point in the second half.
Cleo Lemon was 20-for-31 for 277 yards with two touchdowns and one interception in a losing effort.
Both of Lemon’s TD passes came in the first half and were caught by James Robinson.
Lemon was under pressure all game long and was sacked five times including twice by Jonathan Brown.
The Argos actually had more sacks then BC though, getting to the BC pivots eight times.
The biggest blow for the Argos came midway through the third quarter when the CFL’s leading rusher left the game after taking a hit from BC defensive lineman Solomon Elimimian.
