WILLIE PILE
Argonauts.ca Staff
After three very tough losses due to self-inflicted mistakes, we finally got back in the win column against the Bombers last Sunday. A hard-fought win where big plays in all three phases of the game proved to be the difference.
So now, I’m taking a break from my “Willie’s Playlist” series to provide you with a daily blog from Moncton & the Scotiabank Touchdown Atlantic festivities.
Day 1:
For the first time this season, we decided to all wear suits or slacks for our travel wear and I’m willing to put our team against any team in the league when it comes to wardrobe. The team looked good & the mood/looks/compliments in Pearson Airport confirmed it.
Anyway, we arrived in Moncton last night to a raucous welcome from high-fiving minor football players, Touchdown Atlantic staff serving chips & seafood, and a folk band trio. It was truly an awesome scene because we arrived around 11:30 pm local time and most of the guys had just woken up from an in-flight nap. Needless to say, the Atlantic welcome provided a jolt of energy and allowed us to feel the excitement that this special week will bring.
We realize the importance of not only the game versus Edmonton on Sunday, but the opportunity to be ambassadors for the CFL during the week. As the CFL is the league with the most accessible players, the goal is to expose this beautiful region of the country to the athletes of the CFL as well as put on a show in the game that often unites (and divides) so many people throughout Canada on game days.
Today we’ll have meetings followed by a practice at Rocky Stone Field in front of what should be a great crowd. Scotiabank Touchdown Atlantic is officially underway and the buzz is building.
