MISSISSAUGA – With the health of Cleo Lemon still up in the air, first-year Argos quarterback Dalton Bell is preparing like this is his time to show both his current and former team what he has to offer.
Argos quarterback Dalton Bell addressed members of the media Tuesday afternoon as he discussed the possibility of starting against his former club, the Saskatchewan Roughriders, on Saturday.

“I’m going to go in and prepare as if I were going to start,” said Bell. “If I don’t start, I know the team will do well with Cleo. If I do, I don’t want to let this team down. I want to take the opportunity and run with it.”
Should Bell see action on Saturday when the Argos take on Saskatchewan, it will be a fitting debut for the West Texas A&M product who would be facing a Roughriders squad that traded him to Toronto in the off-season.
Despite his time spent there, Bell points out that the advantages of having faced Saskatchewan’s scout team do exist but they are marginal.
“It is a little bit of an advantage and you know the personnel a bit but practice is one thing and games are a different thing.”
The Argos made the aforementioned trade with the ‘Riders in hopes that Bell could one day be a premiere pivot in the CFL. According to head coach Jim Barker, those expectations haven’t changed.
“Dalton is a guy that we brought here because we thought that he could be a starting quarterback, and if this is the week that he gets his opportunity than we are going to see where he is at.”
