Beyond The Poms: Montreal Trip

BROOKLYN
2010 Argos Cheerleader

This weekend, the Argos Cheerleaders travelled to the Argos away game in Montreal against the Alouettes.  The girls all arrived in Montreal to the shock of the cold weather and made sure we all bundled up quickly! We were able to bond as a team and room together in the Marriott Chateau Champlain which served some of the best poutine we have ever tried.  We enjoyed quality time as a team, sight seeing and shopping, and working hard to bring high spirit and excitement outside of our city! Being a cheerleader is more than performing on field and cheering on our team to victory.  It’s a bigger picture that involves interacting with fans, being a role model for our community, meeting new and exciting people, and representing our city.

Being a rookie on the Argos Cheerleaders was definitely an experience I will always remember.  Who knew you could find such a variety of personalities in all the girls and put them together to make a group of best friends?  Standing off field at McGill Stadium and preparing ourselves for the thrill of dancing and performing in front of thousands of fans, we sang, made videos, interacted with fans and took pictures of moments we will hold forever.  Realizing the possibility of this game being our last on-field performance supporting our Argonauts, we stood proud of all the effort involved, our team’s success and soaked up every moment that passed as a positive experience and unforgettable season.

Not only did we conclude our Montreal weekend with a 30-4 win but we also built stronger relationships with each other.  We were lucky to meet the Alouettes fans and cheerleaders, who made our stay very welcoming.  With our spot secured in the playoffs, we will continue to support and cheer on our team with hopes of visiting Montreal again at the East Final on November 21!  Until then, GO ARGOS GO!!
