Pile’s Playlist: ‘superstar’

WILLIE PILE

For the first time in three years, the Toronto Argonauts were back in the playoffs. And just like the last time we were in the post-season, we’re playing in the East Final after a thrilling victory over our QEW rivals, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

Next up are the Montreal Alouettes at Olympic Stadium. We’ve split four games with the Als and if there was ever a time for all of our players to play like stars, this is it!

The next song on Willie’s Playlist is Lupe Fiasco’s “Superstar”. As one of the most underrated rappers in the music industry, Lupe chorus says, “If you are what you say you are, a Superstar, then have no fear, the crowd is here, and the lights are on and they want a show.”

Everyone recognizes the names of Cory Boyd, Chad Owens, Adriano Belli and Byron Parker as stars of the CFL. Furthermore, we all count on them weekly, to perform like the Superstars that they are.

But what’s more impressive are the unsung players who become stars when the stands are crowded and the lights come on. Guys like Matt Black, Andre Durie, Spencer Watt, Ejiro Kuale, and Evan McCollough.

Playing like a Superstar does not mean going above and beyond your assignments or role within the team. It means performing your role at the highest concentration level you can with the most passion you can muster for 60 minutes (or more if required).

With an opportunity to go to Edmonton to play for the Grey Cup and create memories that will last a lifetime, every Argo will need to play like a Superstar in the Big O this coming Sunday vs. Montreal.
