Argonauts To Host Ottawa Redblacks In Must-win Game On Friday Night At Rogers Centre

TORONTO – This Friday, November 7 at 7:00 p.m., in a game presented by OLG Slots at Woodbine Racetrack, theToronto Argonautswill host the Ottawa REDBLACKS in a must-win contest for the Double Blue.

The intensity is high for this week’s edition of Argos Football, presented by Desjardins. This will be the REDBLACKS’ first ever visit to Rogers Centre and a win for the Argos will keep them in the running to represent the East Division in the 2014 Grey Cup Playoffs. A win by Toronto on Friday night coupled with a win by Montreal, over Hamilton, on Saturday afternoon ensures the Boatmen will host a home playoff game for the third consecutive year.

It’s Fan Appreciation Night and, on the field, the Double Blue would like nothing more than to show their appreciation for their fans by giving them a chance at another Grey Cup run. Off the field, the Argos will do their best to show their fans how important they are to the team. It has become tradition that the Argonauts introduce the special teams unit at the final regular season home game of the year, and once again select fans will be invited to join the Argonauts special teams stars during player introductions. As well, fans in the stands will have a chance to win special prizes throughout the game, there will be fan-inspired videos played during breaks, and a Minute of Madness is planned for theend of halftime when fans could grab a great prize from an Argos Cheerleader or player.

Halftime will by highlighted by a performance by renowned Toronto hip-hop star and Juno nominated artist, Saukrates. Known as @BiggSoxx on Twitter, he has been on the Canadian music scene for two decades and even joined Nelly Furtado to headline the 2006 Grey Cup halftime show in Winnipeg.

Pre-game will include a performance by local band Daylight for Deadeyes. They will entertain with their hit song ‘Toronto’ and then play instrumentals for the Canadian national anthem as the crowd sings along. Representatives from Veterans Affairs Canada will line the fan tunnel during player introductions, ceremonial kickoff will be handled by representatives from Central Ontario Building Trades, and the game ball will be delivered by representatives from OLG Slots at Woodbine Racetrack.
