VIDEO: PSA for Make the Call
Toronto – #littleACTIONS by Argonauts players and alumni are making a big difference in helping to end men’s violence against women within our community and abroad. Alongside White Ribbon Campaign representatives, the Argos continue to influence and educate youth in the Greater Toronto Area and earn international recognition through Huddle Up and Make the Call: A Gender-Based Violence Prevention Project, presented by Tim Hortons.
Later this week, Shai Kohen, Project Manager of the White Ribbon Campaign, will be in Louisville, KY at the third annual Muhammad Ali Centre Athletes and Social Change Forum. He has been invited to speak on the successes and positive impact that Argonauts’ players and alumni have experienced in Toronto area secondary schools through Make the Call.
This past October, the Argonauts, in partnership with the White Ribbon Campaign and Status of Women Canada, became the first recipients of the Zonta Says No! Award – Area 2, as endorsed by the United Nations, for their work in helping to prevent men’s violence against women.
Shai Kohen commented, “We are excited that Make the Call, in partnership with Status of Women Canada and the Toronto Argonauts, continues to build momentum and awareness about gender-based violence in the Toronto community and around the world. The opportunity to be at the third annual Muhammad Ali Centre Athletes and Social Change Forum will give us the platform to explain the great work that’s being done as well as share how Argos players and alumni make a daily impact through their personal testimony.”
The Muhammad Ali Centre Athletes and Social Change Forum takes place on April 3 and April 4 in Louisville, KY. This year’s theme is Athlete Activism and the forum will welcome practitioners, scholars, policymakers, athletes and advocates who work to advance the role of athletes and social values through the core values of Muhammad Ali: respect, confidence, conviction, dedication, spirituality and giving.
