TORONTO – As announced previously by the CFL on TSN panel, five members of the 2015 Toronto Argonauts have been named in the CFL TOP 50 PLAYERS, as voted on TSN reporters and panelists, as well as members of the media in all nine CFL cities. 2014 East Division Most Outstanding Player, Ricky Ray, was once again the Argonauts’ highest-ranked player, placing fifth and cracking the top five for the third consecutive season. Five Argonauts were named to the Top 50 in all, including SB Chad Owens, who made his third consecutive appearance in the top 10.
Despite missing the final game of last season due to injury, Ray led all CFL quarterbacks in passing yards (4,595), touchdown passes (28) and completion percentage (68.9%) in 2014. Ray also achieved a significant personal milestone in 2014, becoming just the sixth quarterback in CFL history to surpass 50,000 career passing yards, joining Anthony Calvillo, Damon Allen, Danny McManus, Henry Burris and Ron Lancaster in the elite club.
SB Chad Owens was the next-highest ranked Argonaut, reprising his position from 2014 in ninth place. The 2014 CFL All-Star ranked in the top five in receiving yards (989), catches (86), and set a new career-high in receiving touchdowns (7) last season.
