Toronto – Win and they’re in! The Toronto Argonauts (9-5) can officially clinch a spot in the 103rd Grey Cup Playoffs with a win this week at Tim Hortons Field in Hamilton.
That’s what’s on the line for Argos football, presented by Desjardins, when they host the Calgary Stampeders (11-4) just a short trip down the QEW from Toronto. The game is scheduled for Saturday, October 17 and kickoff will be 4:00 p.m. ET.
Argos’ starting QB Trevor Harris is still a leading candidate for the East Division Most Outstanding Player nomination. In two games last week against Ottawa and Montreal, the CFL Top Performer threw for nearly 600 yards and 7 touchdowns! He currently leads the League with 31 passing touchdowns, tying him with the great Condredge Holloway (31 in 1982) for fifth-most in a season by an Argonauts quarterback. Harris is also third in the CFL in passing yards (3,782). The Argonauts’ defensive line has been a marvel the past three games having recorded a combined 12 quarterback sacks against their opponents. Defensive linemen Tristan Okpalaugo and Cleyon Laing lead the way with 9 and 8 sacks, respectively, on the year.
The crowd will be entertained at halftime by the Centre Stage Dance Group and a few lucky fans will be invited to the field to play musical chairs and win great prizes courtesy of Pizza Pizza. The anthem will be performed by Argonauts Cheerleader, Amanda S.Team mascot Jason will provide plenty of entertainment andmembers of the 2015 Argos Cheerleaders, presented by the Toronto Sun, will perform throughout the game.
