Football is back in Toronto Friday Night – Argos host Lions!

Argonauts.ca Staff |

Toronto – Argos Football, presented by Desjardins, returns to Rogers Centre this Friday, October 30 when the playoff-bound Double Blue will host the B.C. Lions. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. ET.

Friday’s game, sponsored by Pizza Pizza, will mark QB Ricky Ray’s first start of 2015. In fact, the reigning two-time East Division Most Outstanding Player will start a game under centre for the Argos for the first time since November 2, 2014. The Argonauts have already punched their ticket to the 103rd Grey Cup Playoffs and a win this week could go a long way in securing a home playoff game.

There will be some spooky surprises on the eve of Hallowe’en throughout the game. The 2015 Argos Cheerleaders, presented by the Toronto Sun, will have special costumes and performances ready. The Jr. Cheer dance team will dance to Hallowe’en-inspired songs at halftime and the videobaord will be packed with haunted tweets, images and more.

The Argonauts will honour former OL Joe Eppele during the first quarter as he officially retires from the CFL as an Argo. He played four seasons in Double Blue and started at left guard in the team’s 100th Grey Cup championship win in 2012.

Two Rogers Centre Memories vignettes will air this week on the videoboard. The first will remember the short but outstanding Argos career of Canadian Football Hall of Fame quarterback, Doug Flutie. Flutie played two spectacular seasons (1996-97) at Rogers Centre earning consecutive Most Outstanding Player Awards and carrying his team to back-to-back Grey Cup championships. The second will remember the celebrity and excitement of the 1991 championship season with ownership powerhouse John Candy and Wayne Gretzky, as well as Raghib “Rocket” Ismail.

In addition to Jr. Cheer performances, halftime will welcome lucky fans to the field to compete in Pizza Pizza Musical Chairs. Also at halftime, Theatre Dance Academy will perform live. The night’s 50-50 will benefit Toronto Rotary Club Christmas Fund.

Fans are reminded to arrive to Friday’s game early to avoid lines. As per stadium policy, Major League Baseball security measures, designed to ensure the safety of everyone in attendance, will be in effect at all gates during every Argos home game this season. The 2015 Argos Cheerleaders Swimsuit Calendar, presented by RedTag.ca, will be on-sale throughout the game on the concourse. Fans can purchase their very own copy for just $20 from any of the beautiful and talented members of the Argos Cheerleaders. This year’s lip dub video featuring the Argonauts Cheerleaders is available to view by clicking here.

Following every Argonauts home game at Rogers Centre this season, fans are encouraged to head over to Shoeless Joe’s Sports Grill at 276 King Street West to celebrate at the Argos Official Post-Game Party
