For every team across the Canadian Football League the focus has turned to the 2016 CFL Draft class – assessing the next group of Canuck talent is top priority.
Draft boards are just beginning to take shape and there could be a lot of change between now and the CFL Draft on May 10. With that said, let’s take a look at who might go in the first round at this point in time.

A number of scouts believe Vaillancourt is the most pro-ready blocker in the draft.

L’Ancienne-Lorette, Que. (Laval)
Yet another strong and tough Rouge et Or offensive lineman.
5. HAM
Jason Lauzon-Seguin, OL
Pointe,Claire, Que. (Laval)
2015 first team CIS All-Canadian brings versatility up front.
6. CGY
Mercer Timmis, RB
Burlington, Ont. (Calgary)
Calgary gets a Canadian back to pair with Jerome Messam who, if developed to his full potential, could one day start.
7. OTT
Trent Corney, DL
Brockville, Ont. (Virginia)
Ultra athletic defensive prospect whose CFL Draft position could fall based on increasing NFL interest.
8. EDM
Dillon Guy, OL
Hamilton (Buffalo)
Recovering quickly from an ACL injury. And if healthy, Guy would likely go higher than the No. 8 spot.
9. WPG
Tevaun Smith, REC
Toronto (Iowa)
Smith would instantly become the best Canadian receiver on Winnipeg’s roster.
