21 Questions with Bryan Hall

during _____ quarter CFL action in Hamilton, Ontario on Sunday November 15, 2015. (CFL PHOTO - Geoff Robins )

Bryan Hall may very well be one of new favourite people, and by the end of this interview, he’ll likely be one of yours too.

The phrase “cheese curds” will no longer have any meaning though…

So without further ado, may we present 21 Questions, the Bryan Hall edition!

Favourite Movie?

The Lion King. Really. The Lion King is like the most impactful movie of like our generation. Mufasa, Simba, growing up to be a man. It’s timeless.

We’ve seen your dance skills. It’s all over TSN. Are you going to go ahead now and proclaim yourself the best dancer on the team? Are we going to see some on the sidelines this year?

I mean I got moves; I got moves for days. If somebody wants to run up and down one day and show their moves. As long as we got some good music; don’t come at me with the hokey pokey now, I can’t get going with the hokey pokey.

I have a question for you though. Have you ever seen The Last Dragon?  You got to check it out. It was made in 1985. It’s a really good movie.

Ok…so enough about the Last Dragon… Tell us a hidden talent that you have that people might not know about?

A hidden talent? Let’s see. Nobody knows that I can sing. At least I tell myself that I can sing. Nobody knows know about it because I don’t sing in front of everybody. Here’s the thing though, I don’t “sing” I “sang”

Sang?

I put a little soul behind it, belt it out.

Who is your biggest rival on the field? Someone you have to destroy every time?

You had asked me that last year I definitely would have said Ricky Ray but he’s my teammate now, so let’s see. I gotta pick somebody else. Gotta add some flavor to the rivalry so Peter Dyakowski! Peter Dyakowski is my rival now.

Speaking of the rivalry, how does it feel to be on the other side of it now?

Oh ya. It’s a really good side. I’m definitely feeling welcome so, im excited. I need some more gear though. Can’t have all this Ticats stuff still.

How much do you like to chirp on the field?

I feed off of it! I love those guys over there; there’s nobody more fun to go and hang with than those guys. You know I went to work with them numerous times. To stay in this rivalry, the oldest rivalry, I think, in football is big for me. I found a great place in it and it will feel really good to sack Zack Collaros, so, I’m looking forward to it.

What are your thoughts on getting to play with [new argos D-lineman] Brian Bulcke again?

Well he’s one of the first guys that I got really cool with coming to Canada and he showed me the ropes. He’s a really smart, intellectual guy, and he’s taught me a lot of ins and outs and helped me come up. You know, a force in the CFL. I owe a lot to him. He’s the man! Like that’s the guy. He’s the man of Toronto minus…Ricky Foley.

Speaking of Ricky Foley. Apparently he owes you guys all a dinner? I’m glad that you noticed! Ya, he definitely owes us dinner. A big steak in Toronto. I’m talking about the size of his back; like I want a big steak, sit down and eat on his pad. I heard he’s the man in Toronto so, it shouldn’t be a problem. Haha!

Speaking of Toronto, what are you thoughts about getting to come, play here and live in the Six for the season?

Well you know I’ve been talking about The Six as I had six on last year on my jersey, so I’ve been excited for a while. I can’t wait! It’s a big city. I mean it’s the biggest city in Canada. I’m looking forward to it, getting BMO Field going for games!

Switching gears. What is your biggest pet peeve?

My biggest pet peeve? I hate having to repeat myself.

Sorry. What was that?

Haha!

What is one food you absolutely hate?

What food I absolutely hate? Let’s see. Poutine.

That is the worst thing you could ever say…

Hahahah. I’m throwing it out there. Poutine is terrible though. I’m American. Only thing I like on my fries is ketchup. Gravy? No! It’s the gravy and then, you add cheese curds?

I don’t eat cheese curds. How do you know what a cheese curd is? Why limit yourself with cheese, called cheese curds. I don’t want cheese curds. I never want cheese curds.

The word “curds” has lost all meaning… Moving on! In the movie of your life, who would play you?

Who would play me? Oh man. The movie of my life would have to be played by Samuel L. Jackson. We’d have a lot of fun.

If you could live off of one junk food for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Oooh. I could live off of one. Hmmmm. These are pretty good questions. Let’s see. It would have to be – zebra cake.

A what?

Are you serious? It’s this little Debbie cake. It’s white and black. I don’t know how you don’t know what those are; you’ve got to Google this. A zebra cake. I’m…WOW!!!!! Did you grow up under a rock?

*editor’s note: we looked up zebra cakes and they look delicious and cannot be found anywhere! 🙁

You’re GM for a day. What’s the first thing you do?

Sign myself to a long term extension.

Best. Answer. Ever. So you’re from Paducah Kentucky? What’s Paducah’s claim to fame?

Krispy Kreme doughnuts came from Paducah! Google it. The guy took them to North Carolina to set up shop so the company was founded in North Carolina – Brandon Banks will try to tell you – but they were founded in Paducah.

Favourite guilty-pleasure TV show?

Let’s see. Game of Thrones is pretty trashy. Haha! I didn’t really watch TV until I moved to Canada. Ya. Game of Thrones. A lot of murders.

One hobby outside of football, that you really love or something you would like to learn how to do?

Oh I play the guitar. I’m as good as I say I am. My favourite song to play is “Tie My Hands” by Lil Wayne and Robin Thicke. Do you know that song?

No….

Alright look. Make sure you look that up too. Look up zebra cake, The Last Dragon and then definitely look up Tie My Hands.

You seem like a pretty funny guy. Can fans expect a lot of Argos TV appearances from you?

Absolutely! I love doing segments and having fun with fans. Anything you guys need, just ask.

What can fans expect from Bryan Hall on the field?

For one, I’m dedicated to winning. I’m gonna train and try to do everything I can to be professional and lead this thing to a Grey Cup, but I have to have fun doing it too.

Now that you’re in Toronto, who’s going to be your most hated team to play?

Probably that uh, the yellow and black team down the QEW. Can’t all wait for Hamilton Tiger-Cats. Love that!

What are your thoughts about getting the chance to play for home Grey Cup?

That’s definitely a part me wanting to come to Toronto. Homefield advantage for the Grey Cup. That is huge. It’s a great city. It will be rocking!
