JASON SHIVERS – Co-Defensive Coordinator, Defensive Backs Coach, Pro Player Personnel Assistant

Shivers returns to Toronto, where he started both his CFL playing and coaching careers.

He spent three seasons as a player with the Argos 2007-09, before playing two more years with Hamilton. He began his pro career with the St. Louis Rams and Chicago Bears of the NFL before playing a year in NFL Europe with the Hamburg Sea Devils.

After missing his first season due to an injury, the defensive back played 32 games over the next two years in Double Blue and began his coaching journey as a defensive assistant with the Boatmen in 2013. He took a job the next season in Edmonton as the defensive backs coach and would stay in green and gold for two seasons, winning a Grey Cup in 2015.

It was then off to Saskatchewan, where he would spend the next eight years. He would start his Rider career as the defensive backs coach before being promoted to defensive coordinator, a role he would hold until the end of the 2023 season.

In 2024 he would return to Edmonton as the Elks assistant head coach, defensive coordinator, and linebackers coach.

He returns home to Toronto in 2025 as the team’s defensive co-coordinator, defensive backs coach, and personnel assistant.

A native of Phoenix, Arizona, he played college football at Arizona State University.
