– The Toronto Argonauts Football Club is thrilled to announce that
quarterback Michael Bishop has extended his contract with the club
through the 2010 season.

the East in 2007 and brings a dogged determination to find ways to win
games. Along with Kerry Joseph, we are confident we have the best 1-2
quarterback punch in the league.”
Michael
Bishop changed the entire dynamic of his team in 2007 through hard work
and discipline. He surged to an 11-1-0 record in 12 games as a starter
and lifted the Argos to their second first place finish in three
seasons. He was rewarded for his intense work ethic with a career
season statistically. Bishop passed for single-season career-highs of
2,920 yards, 22 touchdowns and completed 52.1% (185 of 355) of his
passes. He spent parts of the season flirting with the best quarterback
efficiency rating the CFL and finished as the leading rushing
quarterback in the East with 260 yards.
2008
will be Bishop’s seventh season with the Argos, originally joining the
club as a free agent in 2002. During his time in Toronto, the former
Kansas State star has played 91 regular season games, 7 playoff games
and won a Grey Cup championship in 2004. Bishop was runner-up for the
1998 Heisman Trophy and has also played for the New England Patriots of
the NFL, and Grand Rapids, Chicago and Kansas City of the Arena
Football League. He holds AFL records for most rushing yards in a
season (459 yards) and in a game (100 yards).
