WR Nathan Hoffart

Mississauga – The Toronto Argonauts Football Club today acquired Canadian receiver Nathan Hoffart from the Saskatchewan Roughriders in exchange for OL Steve Morley.

Head Coach of the Toronto Argonauts, commented, “We see this trade as a
first round draft choice in exchange for a first round draft choice.
We have made a decision to play import tackles on our offensive line
this season with Mike Pearson, Jerome Davis and Glenn January all
coming to camp. This trade addresses a need for us with a Canadian
speed receiver. This is also a fiscally responsible move as we
continue to operate under the Salary Management System.”
Hoffart was originally drafted by his hometown Roughriders in the first round, 7th
overall, of the 2005 CFL Canadian Draft. Noted for his raw speed and
size (6’2”, 209 lbs), the college standout played in three CFL games as
a freshman but was sidelined with an injury for all of the 2006 season.
He returned to the lineup to aid his teammates during their 2007 Grey
Cup championship run playing in both post season games as well as the
championship game at Rogers Centre.
As
a senior, the former Saskatchewan Huskies star was named the MVP of the
2004 CIS East West Bowl and was an important part of the Huskies’ 2002
Mitchell Bowl championship. Also as a senior, he was named an academic
All-Canadian while playing in nine games and recording 16 catches for
403 yards and four touchdowns. In acquiring Hoffart, the Argos reunite
him with former college teammate WR Chad Rempel.
