Mississauga – The Toronto Argonauts added depth and discipline today by signing import OT Ross Weaver who has been completing his U.S. military training since graduating
from Air Force in 2006. The Argos also signed 2008 CFL Evaluation Camp
attendee DL Sean Ortiz.
Ross Weaver played his entire college career at Air Force where he became a crucial
part of their offensive line unit. He led the team in knockdown blocks
in multiple games while playing offensive tackle; in total, he had 270
knockdown blocks in four seasons. Weaver is also a member of the United
States Air Force and is currently in Colorado undergoing missile silo
training.
Sean Ortiz,
who attended 2008 CFL Evaluation Camp in Toronto, played a pivotal role
at Minot State, starting every game in his last two years, and even one
as a freshman. After three years with the Beavers, he transferred to
the University of British Columbia for his senior season. He proved to
be an important part of the UBC defensive line, recording 13 tackles, 3
for a loss, and two sacks.
