On a sweltering morning with the
humidex approaching 36 degrees Celsius, Coach Stubler elected to have the team
practice without pads. Early on the defence showed their appreciation. On 7 on
7 drills, the secondary dropped no less then 3 potential interceptions.
Of all the QB’s, Texas A&M
product #12 Reggie
McNeal had an excellent day. He found #16 WR Obed Cetoute on a 50
yard TD strike. McNeal, battling Cody Pickett for the 3 rd QB job
lofted a perfect pass to Cetoute for the TD. McNeal also marched the 3rd team offence down the field towards the end of practice. They didn’t score a
TD, but McNeal looked impressive on the drive displaying excellent touch on
many throws.
#15 WR Tyler Scott made a
great adjustment on an errant McNeal Pass. Scott, running an in pattern
adjusted perfectly contorting his body and sticking out his hands in the
opposite direction he was running. It was a great lunging grab.
#18 CB DeJuan Groce had an
interception on a deep ball during afternoon practice
Former Argo and CFL Hall of Famer Matt Dunnigan attended
practice this morning. Dunnigan held court with a steady stream of players and
coaches throughout practice. The funniest exchange occurred when Linebacker #2
LB Michael Fletcher had
a “flex off” with Dunnigan. Fletcher commented on how large Dunnigan’s biceps
have become and then the whole exchange disintegrated into a “flex off” which
had both men in stitches.
#80 WR Chris Cole introduced
himself to the TSN crew when he ran a deep out and crashed into Dunnigan, Dave
Randorf and narrowly missed the camera on the sidelines. The outstanding catch
garnered a loud gasp followed by applause during afternoon practice.
NOTES
Another popular person at practice
was Argos GM Adam Rita.
Rita, who just signed a new contract keeping him with the Double Blue through
2010, was a main target of the media, jovially strolled through practice
smiling at every turn.
