The Toronto Argonauts are saddened by the
loss of an important member of its extended SickKids family.
16-year old Danielle, a double-lung
transplant recipient, emceed the event to announce the historic partnership
between the Argos
and the SickKids Foundation in May 2007. Her energy, positive attitude
and amazing speaking ability wowed the players and Argos executives, bringing a special
dimension to the announcement and $4 million donation. Danielle also
participated in the pre-game coin toss during SickKids Day at Rogers Centre
last season.
The entire Toronto Argonauts family would
like to offer its deepest sympathies to Danielle’s family and commend
Danielle on the tremendous courage she demonstrated throughout her difficult
battle.
The Argos
will continue their support of SickKids Foundation through their Big Men, Big Hearts program. Danielle’s
passing emphasizes the importance of the tireless work of everyone at the
Hospital for Sick Children, as well as the importance of the many donors and
programs in support of SickKids Foundation.
