Families looking
for fun in the city this weekend should look no further than an Argos home game as the
Boatmen host the Edmonton Eskimos for Kids Day presented by Tim
Hortons this Sunday, July 20 at 4:00 p.m. Even cottagers should be
able to head back to the city in time to catch the rematch of this
home-and-home series as the Double Blue set out to right the ship and win in
front of the home crowd.
The
fun at Rogers Centre begins at 1:00 p.m. with the Nissan Tailgate
Party, featuring music, food, beverages and the 2008 Argos cheerleaders, in the Bremner St. parking lot. Families
should visit the Generation A Zone outside of Gate 11 which includes the
RONA Football Interactive Inflatable, 6000 square feet of space for fans
of all ages to test their football skills.
Kids Day will feature youth from the Generation
A Club shadowing the game day hosts, as well as the Generation A
Cheerleaders performing on the field. It gets even better for the
parents of Generation A youth. The Toronto Argonauts launched a Kids
Free Zone new to 2008. In two special 100 level sections, kids under
16 will receive a free ticket with the purchase of a $50 adult ticket. Argos football remains top
entertainment family value and is committed to making the game day experience
fun for the whole family.
Toronto is 7-2-0 against Edmonton in
their past nine games and have not lost to Edmonton at Rogers Centre since Thanksgiving
2005. The Argonauts have swept the season series against Edmonton in three of the
last four seasons (2004, 2006, 2007). Things are sure to be exciting as
East meets West in a battle as Kerry Joseph leads the Toronto offence
and Orlondo Steinauer and the Toronto defence are looking to shut down Ricky
Ray and the Esks.
Proceeds from the game’s 50/50 will benefit The
Argos Foundation and game day sponsor Tim Hortons will present a cheque as
title sponsor of the Foundation’s Huddle Up Bullying Prevention Program which reaches ten of thousands of students each year in GTA schools.
Following
the game, Boatmen supporters can head down to get some autographs during See
You on the Field. After that, the new home of the Argos’ official post game party is Jack
Astor’s, 144 Front Street West.
Following each home game, the party will feature live music, drink specials and
the opportunity to meet your favourite Argos
players and cheerleaders.
