Mississauga – The Toronto Argonauts have released import safety #21 Orlondo
Steinauer today. Steinauer joined the Argonauts in 2001 after being
acquired in a trade (along with RB Eric Lapointe and a 1st round
draft pick in the 2001 CFL Canadian Draft, OG Angus Reid) with the Hamilton
Tiger-Cats on June 11, 2000 in exchange for LB Mike O’Shea. He played 127
regular season games, 13 playoff games and won a Grey Cup championship with the
club in 2004. Steinauer was named an East Division All-Star five times and a
CFL All-Star three times while in Double Blue.
Adam Rita, GM/VP, Football Operations, commented, “Sometimes in football, you are
faced with having to make difficult decisions involving good people.
Today is one of those times. We believe this move will help us improve
our secondary and ultimately win games. We have some young talent on our
roster and we are looking forward to seeing them on the field. We would
like to wish Orlondo all the best in the future and thank him for his
leadership and sportsmanship over the years.”
The Toronto Argonauts have also added import defensive
back Pete
Hunter,
Virginia Union, to the practice roster.
