Argos Team Up With Tdsb To Support High School Football

Toronto – The Toronto Argonauts Football Club has teamed up with the Toronto District School Board in a multi-faceted effort to help support and grow grassroots football in the GTA.

The Toronto Argonauts will provide TDSB with an Athletic Therapy subsidy in order to ensure that an Athletic Therapist is present at all TDSB football games, helping to secure the health and safety of student athletes.  To further supplement the football programs, the Argos are offering each football team a fundraising program where a portion of ticket proceeds for the October 30 game vs. the Saskatchewan Roughriders will be donated back to each participating school.

The Double Blue will also be supporting TDSB football through education and mentorship.  TDSB coaches will be invited to a special Roundtable Discussion with CEO Michael “Pinball” Clemons and GM/Vice President, Football Operations, Adam Rita prior to a 2008 Argos home game.  Additionally, many programs will receive a visit from an Argonauts player, coach or alumnus.

The TDSB will sticker all team helmets in the Toronto District School Board with the Argo Shield as proud supporters of grassroots football.  As well, the Toronto Argonauts will host a TDSB playoff game on October 30 at Rogers Centre, prior to the final home game of the 2008 season.  The Argos will also recognize the TDSB All-Star Team at that game as each high school All-Star will escort the Argos player at his position during player introductions.
