One Early Morning

When the muffled sound of music came blaring through my alarm clock at 4:10 a.m., I almost hit the off button and declared it a “duvet day”.  I have never been much of a morning person, especially when I wake up and it is still dark outside.  But, after a couple of seconds, I nearly jumped out of bed, with excitement – I was going on City TV’s “Breakfast Television”. Something about the lights, cameras, and set is so exhilarating. The cheerleaders and I had an absolute blast last time we were on the show when we revealed our new uniforms by Vata Brasil. My five-year-old cousin couldn’t quite understand how I got inside the T.V. – too cute!

This time, we were on with some of the Alumni Cheerleaders discussing Retro Week.  That game was so much fun!  How often do you get to wear a poodle skirt? During the segment, we modeled the Argos cheerleader uniforms from 1979 to now.  In case you missed it, or want to see them again, you can check out the 2009 retro-inspired cheerleader calendar.  We had a few laughs while shooting the calendar.  It was interesting to see how our uniforms have evolved over the years from sailor suits to blue jump suits to ones with fringes to now.  Our great hairstylists from Domenico and Drea did an amazing job recreating the hairstyles from each era.  My uniform was from 1991. I had the backcombed bang and the high cut shorts.  I felt like a character from 90210 – the original one.

Aside from all the fun we had at the calendar shoot and on BT, the greatest thing was getting to meet the Alumni Cheerleaders.  The Argos Cheerleaders are more than just a team. It’s a sisterhood.  It was inspirational to see how they have still remained friends after all these years and value their Argos experience as a life-changing one.  As much as I am grateful to be part of this team, meeting them made me appreciate it even more.  I know that I will forever remember these days as some of the best in my life.
