Obed Online

Argos receiver Obed Cetoute has departed the frigid Toronto cold and headed south – but not for a vacation. He’s attending an intense three-week off-season conditioning and training session in South Carolina. The camp is for high-performance football players (CFL, NCAA and NFL) to help elevate their game. For the next three weeks, Obed will file short, regular blogs for argonauts.ca and let fans in on how he’s training, who he’s meeting and what he’s doing next. Keep checking OBED ONLINE for updates.

March 18-20, 2009

Workouts have been paying off because I feel stronger.  I don’t even keep track of the day given that some days are more strenuous than others. I have been maintaining the weights (not increasing) in the gym so that I don’t burn myself out before training camp.  I have a tendency to do too much according to some people.  I’ll probably go a little bit harder once I get back in Toronto next month.

The weather was not so good for a while, but the sun has been out the last couple of days. I’m able to get on the track and do various exercises.  I’m anxious for training camp to start and being able to compete. I have put some time and effort to be where I want to be, and I hope to reap the dividends. I have been watching games from last season and visualizing what I need to do in order to be a major contributor to the team. I’m working on my weaknesses in order to be a complete player. Check in again soon.

March 6-9, 2009

The internet was down for a couple of days here but now I’m back. Workouts have been pretty smooth but at the same time brutal. I had a week of ‘transition’ since we don’t want to burn out our bodies. The weather has been good lately so the outdoor workouts have increased a little bit; I believe the lifting part is the hardest. I have been lifting for a while (this off-season) but the exercises that we are doing here are pretty demanding. The purpose is to get strong and fit for all four quarters and I already feel a difference. I have gained some weight and my body already does not look the same as last week. Ok, I’m about to get ready for the second workout of the day. Check back in soon!

This morning was my first workout in South Carolina. I arrived yesterday by car so I had to take it easy today. The trip was quite a drive; I had to take a nap in Pennsylvania before driving across West Virginia. The weather here is not as good as I thought it would be since it snowed last week. Today was, nevertheless, a productive day of training. Tomorrow morning starts at the pool at 6:00 a.m. and then some cone drills later on in the day. I’ll lift again Saturday before fishing!
