The city of Oshawa officially proclaimed May 23rd to May 30 ‘Argos Week’! The Boatmen will host or support 13 events in seven days ranging from community centre visits to Argos Family Fest. Mayor John Gray and the rest of Oshawa City Council welcomed Argonauts President & CEO, Bob Nicholson, and four members of the 2009 Argos Cheerleader, presented by the Toronto Sun.

“It was a true honour to be here to kickoff Argos Week in the city of Oshawa, we have many players and cheerleaders that are from, and still live in the Oshawa area, including Andre Talbot, Jason Pottinger, Delroy Clarke and Jeff Keeping, all of whom will be participating in the many events we have scheduled this week”, said Nicholson while addressing all of council.
Following the quick speech, Nicholson presented a powder blue Argos jersey, with OSHAWA displayed across the nameplate and 09 to commemorate the year emblazoned on the front and back, to Mayor Gray. Then he and the cheerleaders took part in an Oshawa tradition by shaking hands with every city council member.
Following the proclamation, the Argos Cheerleaders visited the Bull Dog Pub (600 Grandview Ave) to promote the Thank You Oshawa V.I.P. party scheduled for Tuesday, May 26. During the night, those in attendance mingled with the Argos Cheerleaders and local resident Bob Kay took home an Argos prize pack which included a signed Michael “Pinball” Clemons Bull Dog Pub hat, and a signed cheerleader calendar.
The Oshawa Regional Tour will commence on Saturday May 23 at the Oshawa Centre from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. It’s open to the public, so come down and meet Argos players and cheerleaders and win some great prizes! We will be across from the Old Navy in the middle of the mall. The week will culminate with Argos Family Fest on Saturday, May 30 at Lakeview Park (12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.) where fans and families can enjoy the Argos Inflatables meet Argos players and cheerleaders listen to music and enjoy a BBQ!
