Mississauga – With training camp just around the corner, the Toronto Argonauts have added depth on offence and special teams by signing QB Kinsmon Lancaster, WR/KR William Judson Jr. and P/K Eddie Johnson. All three players will be on the field with the rest of the Argos rookies and quarterbacks on June 3.
Lancaster joins the Double Blue after spending four years at the University of Louisiana-Monroe. In 2008, Lancaster started in all 12 games, recording 18 passing touchdowns and 2,040 passing yards as a senior. In 2007, he ranked second among quarterbacks in the Sun Belt Conference with a 59.2 % completion rate.
Judson joins the Argos after playing his freshman year at Florida A&M then transferring to the University of Illinois for his final three seasons. The son of eight-year NFL veteran defensive back (1982-89) William Judson Sr., he played in 12 games in 2008 and had a career-high two touchdowns and 177 receiving yards during the season opener against Missouri.
Johnson was drafted in the sixth round, 180th overall, by the Minnesota Vikings in the 2003 NFL Draft. He played 14 games for the Vikings as a rookie and has since attended training camps in Detroit, Denver, Washington, New York (Giants) and Jacksonville. In 2001, he earned First Team All-American honours by the AP after averaging an impressive 46.3 yards on punts in his first year at Idaho State.
The Toronto Argonauts also announced today that import DB Jermaine Mays has been released.
