Argos Sign Jay Lucas And Kenny O’neal

Mississauga – The Toronto Argonauts are pleased to announce that RB Jay Lucas and WR/KR Kenny O’Neal have signed with the club. Both were on the field with Argos rookies and quarterbacks today for the start of 2009 Mini-Camp.

A bruising running back out of Southeastern Louisiana, Lucas started 12 games as a senior rushing for 758 yards and four touchdowns and accumulating 557 receiving yards and four touchdowns. He was a First-Team All-Conference selection as a junior when he ran for a school record 1,239 yards and 12 touchdowns. Lucas, 23, started his college career at Texas A&M and transferred to SE Louisiana the following year.

In college, O’Neal was regarded as one of the fastest NCAA track athletes in the U.S.A. The high school star set state 100M records in both Georgia and California before enrolling at Florida State. There, he played football and was an All-Conference selection for the Seminoles’ track team while also being a member of the US National Junior Olympic Track & Field Championship team. He transferred to the City College of San Francisco where he earned Conference First-Team Offence accolades as a receiver. He transferred to Tennessee for his final year of eligibility and dressed in 12 games for the Volunteers.

The Toronto Argonauts also announced today that import WR Frank Murphy has been released.
