Training Camp Diaries – June 12

For the second time this training camp the team practiced without shoulder pads, and they were in pretty good spirits to start the day. RB Tyler Ebell, WR Arland Bruce lll, and LB Richard Seigler all shared a laugh while chatting to each other across the field during their stretches. Meanwhile, when DS Will Poole, whose spirits were high, started to dance following his stretches.

The good mood of the defence was reflected in their on-field performance. The unit made some big plays including a couple of interceptions by veteran LB Kevin Eiben and new LB Jason Pottinger during skelly.

It wasn’t all defence, as some nice catches and good throws were being converted on the offensive side of the ball. During target practice, Kerry Joseph threw a perfect ball and nailed the center of the target.

Later-on, WR Brad Smith also opened a number of eyes, as he made a fantastic one-handed catch on a ball thrown from Cody Pickett.

Coach Bart Andrus shared a laugh with Joseph at the beginning of practice saying “What do you think of doing three practices today?” The easy-going quarterback let out an awkward laugh – It’s official now, these guys take their football very seriously.

SB Andre Talbot showed his skills as a receiver. While he was completely covered, Talbot made a nice catch from a pass from Joseph.

At the end of practice, Jarrett Payton showed off his field goal kicking skills as he hit three out of four attempts, the one that he missed hit the snapper right in the rear end which caused the entire team to howl with laughter.

NOTES: During afternoon practice, Adam Rita welcomed co-owner David Cynamon and his son Jesse…Argos FAN DAY is on Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the team’s University of Toronto at Mississauga practice facility, it’s fun and free for the whole family!…It was encouraging to watch non-import DT Adriano Belli work with the first team defence during both practices…
