During morning practice, the team worked on goal line drills from inside the 5-yard line. Coach Andrus continued to remind the players to ‘go fast’ and ‘keep the speed up’ throughout the day. Afternoon practice focused on special teams and one-on-one drills.
Recently added receiver Todd Lowber went deep for two impressive catches during AM practice. The first was a sideline route from Kerry Joseph and the second was a pass over the right hash from Cody Pickett.
Rookie linebacker Nick Hannah battled through a scrum and intercepted a pass from Cody Pickett. Veteran CB Jordan Younger and LB Willie Pile were on key today; the two flew around the field knocking away passes and making things tough for the offence. Younger might be the most likely candidate to be a coach one day. He’s been actively helping his fellow DBs and even the receivers he’s been lining up against all camp long.
WR Andre Talbot had several receptions throughout the morning and afternoon from short-range including a one-handed stab over the middle. WR James Robinson climbed the ladder to bring in a high pass from Stephen Reaves on the right sideline. Tyler Scott made a finger tip grab while falling out of bounds on a well thrown ball from Joseph.
The offensive linemen have started to come together and the glue, as it always seems to be with that group, is food. At the end of morning practice, the unit broke themselves down by chanting, “1-2-3 LUNCH!”
NOTES: Sunday is FAN Day from 12 noon to 4:00 p.m. at the Argos University of Toronto at Mississauga practice facility, it’s fun and free for the whole family.
