Toronto – Catch every down of Argos football as all 9 regular season home games at Rogers Centre promise to deliver great value, excitement and action both on and off the field. With pre- and post-game activities, in-stadium giveaways and hard-hitting football, the 2009 season, presented by President’s Choice Financial and featuring the July 11 home opener, is not to be missed.
90 minutes before opening kickoff, fans can take part in the outdoor entertainment surrounding Rogers Centre. From musicians, deejays and dancers at Gates 3, 5 and 11 to posing as an Argos cheerleader or player in front of a photo wall where your picture could be posted on argonauts.ca, there is something for everyone.
In-game, Double Blue fans should get ready for the return of the Supporters Salute. 5000 cardboard replica helmets will be given away at every home game so fans can salute the players as they run onto the field and, in turn, Argos players will salute the fans with their helmets. A throwback to 1991 and John Candy, this Argos tradition is being re-introduced in 2009. Additionally, fans are encouraged to learn the words to the Argos fight song and the storied “AAAARRRGGGOOOSSS!!!” chant will come into play. Touchdowns celebrations will be bigger than ever as mini-footballs will be tossed into the crowd and new heritage flags will be introduced. And of course, fan favourite Jason the mascot will lead the cheers with the 2009 Argos Cheerleaders who will perform throughout the games.
The Toronto Argonauts are always looking for ways to build minor football in the GTA and gamedays are no exception. Minor football teams will participate in every Argos game. From on-field scrimmages, to fundraising opportunities, York Simcoe Bucs Minor Football will lead the charge at the July 11 home opener by showing their skills as part of the Toronto Argonauts Timbits Minor Football Program. The popular See You On The Field post-game autograph session will return for a minimum of 7 games as players and cheerleaders mingle with fans after the game right on the turf.
Looking ahead, the Toronto Argonauts are pleased to bring fans many special promotions and game day themes throughout the season.
