Three-time Emmy Award and Golden Globe winning actor Jeremy Piven was named an honourary member of the Toronto Argonauts at a media gathering outside Rogers Centre Thursday afternoon.
The “Entourage” star, who is in town promoting his new film “The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard” was presented a custom-made Argos jersey, with his name on the back, by Argos Vice-Chair Michael “Pinball Clemons, QB Kerry Joseph and DT Adriano Belli.
“This is the closest I will ever come to becoming a professional athlete”, said Piven said after receiving a kiss on the cheek from Belli.
After making a short speech, Piven was then presented with an autographed Toronto Argonauts helmet, signed by RB Jarrett Payton. Payton’s signature holds certain significance with Piven as Jarret’s father, Walter, was Piven’s favourite player growing up.
Piven’s latest flick, “The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard”, opens in theatres on August 14th.
Piven’s new team take on the Winnipeg Blue Bombers this Saturday at Rogers Centre at 1:00 p.m.
