Mississauga – The Toronto Argonauts Football Club announced today that import CB Byron Parker has been traded to the Edmonton Eskimos in exchange for future considerations.
Commented Argonauts GM/VP, Football Operations, Adam Rita, “We wish Byron good luck and we want to thank him for his years of service as an Argonaut. Like all of the teams, we are responsible for operating under a salary management system and we have many good young players competing for roster spots in our secondary.”
The basketball star turned football player, who is in the option year of his contract, originally signed as a free agent with the Argos on January 24, 2005 and played 55 games over parts of five seasons (2005-09). Parker recorded 101 defensive tackles, 10 special teams tackles, 18 pass knock downs, 18 interceptions for 561 yards and scored nine touchdowns: 6 on defence, 2 on offence and 1 on special teams. He was named a Division All-Star and CFL All-Star twice (2006 & 2007).
