In an effort to help build and promote high school football, the Toronto Argonauts are sending out weekly updates on the teams in the TDSB Varsity Development Tier 2 League throughout the high school football season.
The coaches from each team in the Varsity Development Tier 2 League were invited to submit their team’s MVP based on both on-field and off-field performance. Here are the team MVPs for the week ending October 30:
Lester B. Pearson C.I.
MVP: Anthony Burke
Position: Running Back/Kick Returner
Grade: 12
Coaches: James Reznicki
“Anthony played a strong game on offence running the ball hard every time he touched it. Anthony scored a TD with just over a minute left to pull the team within 2 points. Anthony has continually improved his running abilities as the season has gone on.”

MVP: Jeremy Ambraska
Position: Quarterback/Safety
Grade: 11
Coach: Sean Henderson
“As quarterback, Jeremy scored 13 points against Danforth. He also played on the defence and was responsible for one turnover and a missed field goal attempt by the opponents. He has been a tremendous leader both on and off the field this year.”

Position: Left Tackle
Grade: 12

“Van Chau remained aggressive and intimidating and made some hard tackles throughout the whole game. His encouragement and teamwork skills were easily apparent. His dedication in coming out to all practices and going hard at all times was another reason to why he was chosen for MVP this week.”

Position: Tight End, Kicker, Wide Receiver

“Tre Boutilier played a dominating offensive game, scoring both of our touchdowns while pushing through Westview’s defence with ease. He is extremely coachable and absorbs every bit of information like a sponge. His aggressive, intelligent and momentum-changing attitude led to us use him in the final quarter on the defensive side to ensure our victory. Tre, who was voted as MVP during our first game, earned it again this game. If I were a College or University, I would definitely keep an eye on Tre!”

“Michael has a natural talent for playing offensive line and is a stalwart defensive lineman. This week, Michael recorded 2 sacks and 8 solo tackles. Michael has an incredible work ethic and has been a fine team player all season.”
