Argos To End 2009 Season With Fan Appreciation Day

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Toronto – Without a doubt, the Argos MVP this season has been the 13th man.  In a season with much adversity, supporters of the Double Blue have stayed with the team, cheering them on through thick and thin.  Now the Boatmen will show their gratitude for their 13th man as this Saturday at 1:00 p.m., it is Fan Appreciation Day at Rogers Centre.  Presented by Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen, the Argos take on the Montreal Alouettes in the final game of the 2009 season and the game is truly all about the fans.

Fans of the Toronto Argonauts will be saluted by the team on the field and video and live tributes will run throughout the game.  As well, there will be many prizes and giveaways during the match.  Immediately following the game, several deserving Argos season ticket holders will receive the jerseys off the backs of Argos players.

Saturday is also Bring your Dog to the Stadium Day as Argos fans can purchase a ticket in the Milk-Bone Dog section for only $25. A portion of each ticket sold will be donated to the National Service Dogs, helping to provide specially trained dogs to assist children living with autism.  The popular Milk-Bone Dog Show will be featured at halftime.

As part of the new Level The Playing Field program, sponsored by Tim Hortons, the Lester B. Pearson Bengals, who have taken the field for the first time since 1995, will be introduced with the Argos during player introductions. In its inaugural year, the program helped return football teams to four Toronto-area high schools with a $10,000 donation to each school.  More than funding, Level The Playing Field features mentorship, education and events including Argos player ambassadors, cheerleader ambassadors, pep rallies and an Argos Game Day to honour each high school football team.

After the game, the popular See You on the Field returns.  Fans can come down on the field to meet many of the Toronto Argonauts players and cheerleaders for autographs and photos.  Following See You on the Field, the Argos are pleased to present the first Real Deal post-game event as 4000 Argos fans will gather to hear Michael “Pinball” Clemons and various Argos players share how their faith affects their sport. The night will conclude with an energetic performance from the Canadian band Life Support.

Supporters are also invited to join Argos players and the Argos Cheerleaders, presented by the Toronto Sun, at the Official Post-Game Party at Jack Astor’s, 144 Front Street West, in downtown Toronto.
