MISSISSAUGA — The 2010 Argos rookies took the field for the first time today, and Mother Nature didn’t make it easy on them. The clouds opened up and the rain came pouring down for the majority of practice, but the team played through it.

ArgosTV caught up with all five Argo quarterbacks following practice on Wednesday. Click here to watch video.
The five quarterbacks were put through the paces as they rotated in and out of action regularly. Dalton Bell, Ken Dorsey, Gibran Hamdan and Cleo Lemon (who all measured at least 6-foot, 2-inches tall) all towered over the 6-foot tall Danny Brannagan. All the qb’s held their own nonetheless.
Today also marked the first official practice for new Argos coaches Mike O’Shea and Orlondo Steinauer. Steinauer opened practice by leading the team in a short warm-up and stretch. O’Shea worked closely with the other coaches and with the team’s kickers (Dehaze and Grant).
Veteran players CB Byron Parker, DB Jordan Younger, DB Matt Black, WR Jeremaine Copeland and WR Chad Lucas all watched practice closely, no doubt curious about the kind of competition they’ll face when main camp opens on Sunday.
Other players that had their 2009 seasons end early were back on the field today including WR Obed Cetoute, WR Matt Lambros (who took off his knee brace toward the end of practice), Jeff Keeping and Brian Ramsay. All of them appeared to be in good shape and in good spirits.
Practice ended on a sad note when Head Coach Jim Barker told the media that rookie LB Ledarius Anthony would not be at camp. The Arkansas Pine Bluff alum was in a serious car accident yesterday on his way to the airport in Little Rock – heading to Toronto. Although his condition has improved, he will not be at Argos’ training camp while he recovers in Arkansas. The thoughts and prayers of the Toronto Argonauts Football Club are with Ledarius and his family, and we all wish him a speedy recovery.
The rookies are back on the field tomorrow at 3:00 p.m. at Huron Park in Mississauga (830 Paisley Boulevard West)
