MISSISSAUGA – The Toronto Argonauts would like to congratulate RB/SB Andre Durie on earning CFL Canadian Player of the Week for the first time in his career. This is the third straight week that an Argonauts player has earned CFL player of the week honours. RB Cory Boyd and WR/KR Chad Owens each won offensive player of the week awards for weeks six and seven respectively.
Durie played an outstanding game against the Ticats during CFL week 8 action. He caught a single-game career-high seven (7) passes for 69 yards and carried once for 15 yards during Friday night’s rivalry match.
The York University product is now fourth on the team in receiving yards (25 catches for 298 yards), third in yards from scrimmage (342) and fifth in the CFL in yards after the catch with 255. This is Durie’s second-career player of the week award having been named CFL Special Teams Player of the Week during week 9 in 2009.
The Argonauts would also like to congratulate LB Kevin Eiben on earning Runner-Up, CFL Canadian Player of the Week. Eiben tied a single-game career-high with 10 defensive tackles and added a special teams tackle at Rogers Centre against the Tiger-Cats.
