TORONTO – Purolator, Canada’s largest courier company, is proud to host the eighth annual Purolator Tackle Hunger food drive at the Argonauts vs. Blue Bombers game on September 19 at Rogers Centre. All proceeds from the food drive will support the Toronto Daily Bread Food Bank.
Purolator is encouraging Toronto football fans to help tackle hunger by bringing a non-perishable, nutritious food item or cash donation to the Purolator and food bank volunteers stationed at the stadium gates. In return, fans will have the opportunity to receive a souvenir photo with the Grey Cup and enter a draw to win a trip for two to the 2010 Grey Cup in Edmonton. In addition to the food drive, every time a CFL quarterback gets sacked throughout the regular season, Purolator will donate the equivalent of the quarterback’s weight in food to the CFL hometown food bank.
Last year, Toronto football fans helped raise 18,300 pounds of food for Daily Bread Food Bank. Since 2003, football fans have helped raise more than 3.5 million pounds of food through the Purolator Tackle Hunger program.

When: Sunday, September 19 – Starting at 11 a.m. until the end of the first quarter (game starts at 1 p.m.)
Where: Rogers Centre – food collection to take place at all gates. The Grey Cup will be located at Gate 5.

All proceeds from the food drive will support the Toronto Daily Bread Food Bank. The Toronto Daily Bread Food Bank distributes food to more than 170 member agencies that see an average of 73,000 client visits a month. One third of people using the food banks are children.
New this year, fans can text TACKLE to 30333 to make a one-time donation of $5, which will be added to people’s mobile phone bill. One hundred per cent of the proceeds support Food Banks Canada. As well, fans can log onto cfl.ca/purolator to find information about Purolator Tackle Hunger, Game Day Food Drives, donate to Food Banks Canada online as well as access Facebook and Twitter to receive updates on Purolator Tackle Hunger.
