Toronto, ON (September 23, 2010) – For four lucky Canadians it’s time to start perfecting their field goal kicking technique. The four participants – two from Eastern Canada and two from Western Canada, have been randomly selected from 7.7 million entries for the chance to kick for $1 million live on TSN as part of Wendy’s Kick for a Million. Ranging in age from 37 to 50 years of age, the four compete in regional quarter-final events in Calgary and Moncton this weekend on September 25 and 26 for a berth in the semifinal round of TSN and Wendy’s sixth annual, international award-winning million-dollar giveaway.
The quarter-final events take place on Saturday, Sept. 25 at McMahon Stadium in Calgary during halftime of the BC @ Calgary game, and on Sunday, Sept. 26 at Moncton Stadium in Moncton during halftime of the Edmonton vs. Toronto game as part of Scotiabank Touchdown Atlantic – the CFL’s first-ever regular season game in Atlantic Canada. Highlights and results from the quarter-finals will be featured during the games, with both quarter-final events also available on-demand at TSN.ca. The respective winners of the Eastern and Western quarter-final events will move on to compete head-to-head in the semifinal event on October 8 at Hamilton’s Ivor Wynne Stadium during halftime of the Edmonton @ Hamilton game.
The participants randomly selected from the 7.7 million entries to take part in the regional quarter-finals are:
Western Canada Participants
• Lonnie Lepitzki of Prince Albert, SK – a 37-year-old corrections officer
• Darrell Roach of Viscount, SK – a 47-year-old sales consultant
Eastern Canada Participants
• Kent Wingert of St. Catharines, ON – a 38-year-old hotel valet
• Francis Cottenie of Gads Hill, ON – a 50-year-old factory line worker

The Wendy’s Kick for a Million entry period ran from July 26 through September 7 and resulted in an amazing 7.7 million entries. Fans were invited to enter online at TSN.ca/Wendys or RDS.ca/Wendys, with bonus entries being awarded for playing the Wendy’s Field Goal Challenge game and by referring friends to enter as well. In addition, fans had the opportunity to upsize their combo at participating Wendy’s restaurants to receive a Game Card worth 50 bonus entries and a 1-in-9 chance to win instant prizes such as Wendy’s food prizes and gift cards, Samsung 32” LCD HDTVs, Timex watches and a 2011 Nissan Juke.
The $1 Million Kick attempt will air live nationally on October 15 during halftime of the CFL ON TSN: WENDY’S FRIDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL broadcast featuring Hamilton @ Toronto (game starts at 7:30 p.m. ET). Both the game and the halftime event are available in High Definition.
Lucrative prizes for this year’s Wendy’s Kick for a Million final event include:
