Boyd Fastest In Club History

TORONTO – After getting off to a tremendous start in 2010, Argos rookie RB Cory Boyd has etched himself into the club’s record book. 

With a 3-yard run in the second quarter of today’s game versus the Saskatchewan Roughriders, Boyd becomes the fastest player in club history to eclipse 1,000 yards in a season. He achieved the feat in only 11 active games.  The next fastest was RB Michael Jenkins who reached the mark in 12 active games in 2001.

In addition, Boyd along with former Argos RB Jamal Robertson (1,031 in 2009) teamed up to make this only the second time in club history with 1,000-yard rushers in consecutive seasons.  Jenkins was the only previous player to do so in the 2000 and 2001 season. This will be the first time ever the Argos have fielded two different players who have run for 1000-yards in a season in back-to-back years.

Boyd is also only the eighth player in club history, and at 25 years old the third-youngest, to reach the 1,000-yard mark.  Below is a list of the previous Argos to accomplish the feat and how many active games it took each of them:
