MISSISSAUGA – There is a good chance that Argos DT Adriano Belli has played his last game of 2010. Argos Head Coach Jim Barker has said that Belli will be added to the nine-game injured list when the Argos’ roster is submitted for Week 15, all but ending his season.
“He had a setback yesterday,” Barker said of Belli on Thursday. “We are basically going to put him on the nine-game list and he may be done for the year but he may be back for the playoffs.”
Barker continued, “He was crushed by it. I feel bad for Adriano because nobody wants to play more than he does. He’s got to stay off (his injured leg) completely until we reach the playoffs and then we will make a decision.”
Belli injured himself after the Argos’ week 5 game versus the Montreal Alouettes. He has been off and on the Argos’ 46-man roster in an attempt to get back into the lineup but has not dressed since the injury first occurred.
Although, the nine-game injured list likely ends his season, there is a chance that he could return as, under CFL rules, each team is allocated one player in which they can re-call off of the list without penalty or salary cap implications. The nine-game injured list carries into the playoffs as well.
