TORONTO – The Toronto Argonauts are saddened to learn of the passing of former all-star Jake Dunlap, he was 85 years old. Dunlap played 25 regular season games and three playoff games with the Boatmen from 1949-1950.
He is best known for his performance in the 1950 Grey Cup, aptly named the “Mud Bowl”, win over Winnipeg where he blocked a Blue Bombers kick which led to the game’s only touchdown.
Along with suiting up for the Argos, Dunlap also played parts of his 12-year CFL career with the Ottawa Rough Riders and Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
Following his CFL career, Dunlap moved back to his hometown of Ottawa, Ontario where he successfully opened numerous restaurants and began a law firm with his late brother Frank.
He is survived by his son John and daughter Joanne.
